Generalized Hubble moduli are defined for the Hoyle and Friedmann models. If attention is restricted to a class of objects with weakly dispersed absolute magnitudes, the generalized Hubble modulus becomes for each object a measure of the expansion, and the study of the variations of the different means of the generalized Hubble modulus calculated within bounded regions should allow an approach to the degree of homogeneity or isotropy of the expansion.
