The unsteady reconnection problem in skewed fields under the finite length of the X line is considered in the frame of an ideal incompressible MHD approximation. The propagation of the discontinuities as well as the evolution of the magnetic field, plasma flow and pressure are computed analytically for the arbitrary given function which describes the time behaviour of the reconnection rate.
