Three nights of broadband filter monitoring of the OX 169 variable X-ray quasar using a GEC-type CCD have yielded a 0.005 mag rms precision in the R band. Rapid variation is noted in both B and R on 10-15 min (and greater) time scales; these are, however, of considerably lower amplitude than the observed X-ray variability reported by Tananbaum et al. (1979). Good agreement with Tananbaum is noted in the case of the mass of the singularity that is inferred from the time scale of the variability.
