Data are presented on four high-redshift QSOs located within an area of sky only 440 arcsec in diameter. This large spatial density of high-redshift objects reveals new information about the clustering of Ly-alpha forest and metal-line absorbers. Ly-alpha forest systems with rest equivalent width greater than 0.4 A are seen to cluster in space for separations less than 0.7/h Mpc and velocity splittings less than 100 km/s. Ly-alpha absorbers with W0 greater than 0.8 A may cluster on velocity scales up to 400 km/s. This indicates a gradual progression in clustering strength from virtually no clustering for weak lines to strong-line clustering almost like that of the metal-line systems. There is no clear dichotomy between the clustering properties of Ly-alpha and metal-line systems. The high spatial density of Ly-alpha lines is used to investigate the nature of the large-scale structure of the neutral hydrogen distribution at high redshift.
