A detailed photometric investigation of the Cl 2244-02 field is presented with the aim of testing the gravitational lensing hypothesis, which is the most probable explanation of the giant luminous arcs found in the rich cluster centers. Photometric data on each object lying in the Cl 2244-02 center are obtained; a very probable additional gravitational image of the Cl 2244-02 arc, close to its curvature center as expected by the predictions of the gravitational optics theory and another possible additional image are also obtained. A gravitational lensing model reproduces well these two new images, as well as the arc itself.
