Comet P/Crommelin which comes within 0.74 AU of the sun every 28 years is discussed. The past appearances of the comet, 1818-73-1928, as well as that of 1984 are considered together with the heliocentric magnitudes of the comet in 1984 and before, and the results are presented in graphs. It is shown that the 1984 light curve is flatter than it was before 1956 and that the maximum brightness of the past appearances is not attained. The positions of the sun, earth and comet for certain characteristic appearances are also shown. The evolution of the orbital elements of the comet from 1000 to 2100 AD is studied. It is noted that P/Crommelin has been in its orbit for at least 1000 revolutions, and that because of its stable orbit, its snow covering of H2O, CO, and CO2 can evaporate. The descriptions of the 1984 appearance of P/Crommelin reveal a symmetric diffuse nebulous object with a weak ionized short tail. It is found that it has lost a considerable quantity of water and dust over the years and is not very active today.
