We present Doppler images of the precataclysmic variable V471 Tau. These images show a large high-latitude spot similar to other magnetically active stars (RS CVn, FK Com), as well as a persistent spot in the direction of the white dwarf. Comparison with simultaneous photometry is complicated by limited phase coverage, but the spectroscopy and photometry are consistent with each other. The rotational velocity of the late-type star is 91±4 km/s, which implies a star oversized for its spectral type.
