The 408 MHz all-sky survey was begun in 1965 with the objective of providing an accurate wide dynamic range survey of the whole sky. The 408 MHz survey has been compiled from four sets of observations made using the 100 meter Effelsberg, 76 meter Jodrell Bank and 64 meter Parkes telescopes. The edited and corrected scans were compiled into survey maps using the NOD2 software library (Haslam, 1974) and published in Astronomy and Astrophysics Supplements (Haslam et al., 1982) as an atlas of maps in both α, δ and l, b coordinate systems. The data is also available on 9-track tape in NOD2 format.
