Variations in the rotation of Venus due to the non-zonal terms in the Venusian potential induced by the earth have been computed. The torques are compared to the tidal torque due to the sun, and the results are discussed. It is shown that the magnitudes of the earth-induced torques were not consistent with the hypothesis that the earth controls the spin rotation of Venus at each conjunction.
