We propose WFPC2 broad-band imaging of 6 sources known to be gravitational lens systems. The proposed bservations would consist of images in 3 bands (F555W, F675W and F814W), to test the lens hypothesis for each system, to allow very accurate measurement of the relative positions of the multiply-imaged objects and the lensing object(s), to reveal details of the structure of the lensing object, and potentially to resolve any extended structure in the images at very high signal-to-noise ratios. The proposed observations with a refurbished HST could yield significant new constraints on known gravitational lens systems, and on the properties of the intervening matter at high redshifts, up to z=2. The high angular resolution and flux sensitivity of HST would complement ground-based programs of observations that are being conducted at various facilities by the collaborators.
