The authors show that in the OB associations Per OB1 and Cen OB1, the
lower mass stars were formed first, the most massive stars being 10 -
20×106yr younger than the lower mass stars. It is shown
that this result cannot be due to selection effects. The consequences of
this time-dependent star formation are briefly discussed.
