The thermal evolution of arbitrarily degenerate stellar models for the mass losing component in AM CVn binary systems formed through the white dwarf evolutionary channel is investigated for a range of initial orbital periods and initial system masses. Based on these models, the evolutionary phases and properties of AM CVn binary systems are described and the observational signature of their donors is discussed.
