IN the supplement to NATUBE of April 9, I was permitted to discourse on the necessity, after Newton, of a universal time for astronomical science, and had identified it objectively and everywhere with the intrinsic vibrational times of the material atoms. In the last section it was imagined that this course had eliminated what had been considered to be a formidable discrepancy in the verification of the relativity scheme for gravitation.
