The exchange of angular momentum and energy among stars in a cluster is normally described by two-body gravitational relaxation, a process that was first described by Jeans. Nearly Keplerian star clusters, such as those found in the centers of galactic nuclei containing black holes, exhibit enhanced angular momentum relaxation. The enhancement arises because Keplerian ellipses do not precess and is called resonant relaxation. Similarly, bodies in nearly Keplerian disks such as protoplanetary disks can exhibit enhanced eccentricity and inclination relaxation compared to standard formulae based on two-body scattering. I will discuss the dynamics and implications of resonant relaxation in both clusters and disks.
