The study of the dynamics of centers of galaxies is complicated by a degeneracy between the lowest even moments of the phase space distribution function and the mass distribution. Schwarzschild's method offers a concepttually simple way to break that degeneracy and study both the mass distribution and anisotropy in the centers of nearby galaxies. Results from that analysis support the presence of massive dark objects in the centers of galaxies.
