We derive an analytical relation for the loss probability of photons in flight during resonance scattering in an expanding medium with a large optical depth in the presence of additional selective absorption. One possible astrophysical application is allowance for multiple scattering of Lalpha photons when considering the initial hydrogen recombination in the envelope of a type-II supernova.
