Interest in the X-ray transient GRS 1915+105 has increased recently as a result of observations of its radio counterpart that showed evidence for superluminal expansion (Mirabel & Rodriguez 1994Natur.371...46M), the first such detection in a galactic source. BATSE observations indicate that this source first appeared in May 1992 and remains sporadically detectable up to the present time. We present the long-term hard X-ray intensity and spectral history of GRS 1915+105 as observed by BATSE and discuss this in the context of other observations. We also present the results of detailed Earth occultation analysis, which indicates that the initial outburst of GRS 1915+105 showed an unusually extreme degree of variability.
