We present new data concerning the relation between locations of K_2v_ grain appearance and magnetic flux tubes. The data consist of a two hour time series of simultaneous spectral scans in CaK and in the rotational bands of cyanogen (CN) around 3883A. The intensity near the CN bandhead at 3883.4A is used as a proxy for vertical magnetic flux (cf. Sheeley (1971SPh....20...19S), Liu & Sheeley (1971SPh....20..282), Chapman (1974SPh....37..151C)). We find no statistically significant increase in CN intensity at locations of K_2v_ grain appearance. This indicates that there is no relation between small scale magnetic flux tubes and locations of bright K_2v_ grains in the internetwork region.
