Based on published photometric monitoring results for NGC 4151 during 1970-1980 in the near infrared, we construct a composite light curve in the K band (2.2 micron). Using special cross-correlation analysis methods, we find that the flux variability in the K band lags that of the U by 18 +/- 6 days. The error in the delay was found by applying cross- correlation analysis to a model series, with the same temporal distribution, power spectrum, and signal-to-noise ratio as the actual data. If the IR emission is due to thermal reemission by dust, for agreement with observations it is necessary to propose a special geometry for the emission region. A model of the IR emitting region as a thin disk with large inclination to the line of sight agrees better with the observational data than a spherically symmetric model. These results, however, do not indicate an unambiguous preference for any one of the possible mechanisms of IR emission.
