We suggest that Alfven waves, which can be created above the steep density gradients present near galactic nuclei, are the origin of bipolar jets observed in extragalactic sources. The differential rotation and turbulent motion in galactic nuclei create a bipolar magnetic field by dynamo-action and the twisting and the reconnection of the magnetic field lines produce Alfven waves. Non-linear damping, resonance surface damping, and turbulent damping are investigated. Adopting typical values for the physical parameters for the extragalactic jets, we study the Alfven wave fluxes which reproduce the observational data of these jets from 1 pc to 100 kpc from the galactic nuclei.
