Stellar Abundances

The rapid neutron capture process in supernovae is re-examined as a possible source of approximately half of the heavy elements with mass number A > 70 and all of the actinides in the solar system. We have considered the element production beyond A = 45 in the supernovae envelopes at temperatures > 10E+9 K and neutron density ~ 10E+24 cm-3 and they remain the most potential sites. The primary goal of this calculation is to fit the universal abundance curve for solar system isotopes by varying the time dependent parameters such as temperature and neutron density. The neutron capture paths are obtained for different Q n values ranging from 0.52 MeV to 5.07 MeV . The temperature range considered here is within 1.2 x 10E+ 9 K and 2.8 x 10E+ 9 K and the neutron density ranging from 10E+ 24 cm.
