NASA has a vibrant program in Laboratory Astrophysics the objective of which is to produce spectroscopic data required to analyze and interpret observations from its flight missions. The breadth of research topics covers a wide range which includes the measurement of atomic transition probabilities f-values charge exchange recombination of highly charged ions spectroscopy of carbon bearing molecules PAHs computation of electron-impact cross sections and compilation of databases. An overview of the program will be given in this paper. While research is performed in all wavelength bands emphasis will be given to that in the X-ray area. Key scientific achievements will be highlighted. The objectives of the program in the context of the Office of Space Science Strategic Plan will be presented. Future directions and priorities of the program will be discussed.
