Since the highly successful Hipparcos space-based astrometry mission a number of follow-up programs have been proposed to accomplish a wide variety of scientific goals. Due in part to funding pressure and technical challenges the status of these missions has changed on a near continuous basis (proposal selection descope cancellation rescope reproposal). The status capabilities operational concept science goals schedules and technical challenges of the current set of space-based astrometric missions will be discussed.
