In some previous calculations of the flux of hydrogen atoms in the solar wind, it was conventionally assumed that the contribution to this flux, resulting from charge exchange with interplanetary helium is negligible compared to change exchange with interstellar hydrogen. In the present paper, the erroneousness of this assumption is demonstrated by calculating the atomic flux density resulting from charge exchange with interstellar gas as a function of the position of the observer at the earth's orbit and the temperature of the unperturbed interstellar gas.
