Chinese Virtual Observatory, Research And Development Route, Research And Development Focuses

With different astronomical and technological backgrounds, various of research and development (R&D) strategies are adopted by different Virtual Observatory (VO) projects. In the paper, R&D aims and focuses of several VO projects are introduced, pro and con for small VO projects including Chinese Virtual Observatory (China-VO) are discussed. Based on available resource and technological background, China-VO will emphasize itself on portal and application in 5 key research fields: China-VO platform construction, integrated access of national and international datasets, VO integration of existing astronomical tools, VO integration of astronomical instruments, education and outreach based on VO.
