The evolution of galaxies as derived from information provided by studies of globular clusters (GCs) is reviewed. Attention is given to fundamental correlations for galactic GCs where preliminary findings suggest that abundances might be overestimated in all metal-rich GCs. Models of galaxy formation are discussed where galactic evolution from large protogalaxies is favored over formation from mergers of GCs or dwarf spheroidals. It is suggested that the study of galactic GCs still requires more precise determinations of the cluster parameters which rely fundamentally on very accurate observations, particularly with regard to estimates of abundances and photometric measurements of main sequence stars.
