We have constructed a grid of models for photodissociation regions around early type stars for a range of gas densities, temperatures and stellar parameters and have confirmed a previously proposed relation between the mass, column and volume density and stellar UV flux of the region. The models take into account all the bound rotational levels of the hydrogen molecule ground state to include the effects of collisional transitions in the photodissociation rate. A variable temperature has also been introduced with a simplified chemical network to investigate the existence of partially ionized zones in PDRs. Our models have been used to explain the observed 21 cm line profiles of expanding regions.
