Basic observational data on CH Cyg are presented and an empirical model explaining the data is developed. The star CH Cyg is a binary comprising a semiregular M6 III giant and a white dwarf, around which a transient accretion disk is formed during sufficiently high maxima of the semiregular star. The prediction is made that soft X-rays should be observed when there is an excess ultraviolet radiation and that hard X rays should be observed when there are strong fluctuations of the ultraviolet radiation. It is noted that as a binary system CH Cyg can be resolved by the methods of speckle interferometry.
