The proposed study of Uranus by Voyager 2 is described. A review of the basic characteristics of Uranus and a comparison with Neptune is presented; Uranus has an unusual axis tilt of 98 degrees to the orbital plane and contains no internal heat source. The ring system of Uranus, which was discovered by using occultation measurements, and ground-based observations, is examined. The satellites of Uranus will be investigated by Voyager 2. The exploration paths of both Voyager 1 and 2 are given. Voyager 2 is to provide data on the surface of Uranus, its rotation, temperature, rings, and satellites, and to rendezvous with Neptune.
