In earlier work a semi-empirical fit to the electron-excitation
collision strengths was obtained for the n = 1 to n = 2 transitions in
H- and He-like ions of nuclear charge Z ≳ 14. This work is here
extended to incorporate the effects of scaling with Z by a comparison
with more recent theoretical data for low Z.
