Scientific paper
A theory of gravitation of fourth order incorporating the concept of
spontaneous symmetry breaking is analyzed. A phase transition due to
temperature dependence of the cosmological 'constant' can occur, giving
rise to a change of sign of the Einstein 'constant'.
