The Compton distortions of the microwave background spectrum, caused by the interaction of relic quanta with hot electrons, are considered under different assumptions about the characteristic time of energy release. The equation describing the transformation of the relic background spectrum due to the interaction with ultrarelativistic electrons is obtained and solved. A possible role of the cosmological reheating is discussed. The conclusion is drawn that the excess of the relic radiation intensity in the near Wien region can reach 10 percent only in the case of a very specific combination of secondary-heating parameters which is very unlikely.
