Numerous astronomers around the world tracked the evolution of the supernova in Andromeda during August-September 1885. The event reached a peak magnitude of over 9 and was steadiest in the range of 5-7 mag. Recent UBV estimates were made from the records of over 500 visual observations made during the last century, as well as 40 spectroscopic and astrometric data of the active nuclei of M31 and comparison stars. The data were analyzed to obtain a light curve, which is provided and corrected for systematic errors.
