The set of all possible equilibria of a gyrostat satellite attracted by n point masses has been obtained by solving two algebraic equations P1 = 0 and P2 = 0. It is shown in the elementary case n = 1 that the coefficients of these two equations depend on four parameters j1, j3, K, and nu-squared. The first two parameters depend only on the direction of the internal angular momentum of the rotors; the third parameter depends only on the principal moments of inertia of the satellite; and the fourth parameter is a decreasing function of one of the components of the internal angular momentum. A computer program has been written for obtaining the number of real roots of the two aforementioned equations according to the values of the parameters.
