New data and data-acquisition techniques on cosmic radiation over a broad energy spectrum, including ultrarelavistic radiation, are surveyed in the context of the search for origins of cosmic radiation (solar system, local galaxy, extragalactic). Arrangements for measuring the energy, directions of arrival, and mass composition of energetic cosmic radiation are described. Multiple sources accounting for different components (in mass, energy) of the radiation are considered. Interactions between cosmic radiation and the background microwave radiation are contemplated, in addition to possible relationships between energetic cosmic radiation and matter falling into a massive black hole. Supernova remnants remain plausible sources for lower-energy cosmic radiation.
