The promise of isotope ecology is seen to be substantiated by the abundance of various isotopes, revealed by combined solar studies, in various parts of our environment, and by the fact that the isotopes provide information on solar activity. The present paper deals briefly with the following problems: the interrelationship between processes occurring in the interior and at the surface of the sun; the application of combined studies to the investigation of the various components of solar radiation; and methods of extracting information on solar activity from ambient isotopes.
