The papers deal with dynamic and magnetic phenomena on the solar surface, flare activity, particle acceleration in solar flares, X-ray observations of the sun, solar and galactic cosmic rays, interplanetary effects of solar activity, solar activity in the recent and remote past, cosmogenic radioisotopes, and terrestrial responses to variations in solar activity. Specific topics include mass motions and magnetic-field configurations on the sun, magnetic fields in flare ejecta, physical conditions in the X-ray-emitting coronal plasma, an analysis of flare-plasma gasdynamics, spectra of flare-accelerated particles, and the origin of subcosmic rays. Other papers investigate nucleon acceleration and Jovian electron modulation by corotating interaction regions, particle acceleration by MHD waves in Jupiter's magnetosphere, nuclear reactions in the solar atmosphere involving flare-accelerated particles, correlations between terrestrial atmospheric C-14 content and solar activity, the use of cosmogenic isotopes in lunar samples for studying past solar activity, and anomalous variations in galactic-cosmic-ray intensity within the solar system.
