Forty ringlike galaxies have been found in or near the fields of rich galaxy clusters. These possible rings are not strongly concentrated in the cores of the clusters; most appear to belong either to a field population or to cluster halos. There is some support for the finding by Theys (1973) that apparent companions seem to reside near the minor axes of rings.
