A picture of pregalactic turbulence in the early universe is considered which postulates the existence of substantial condensations of 'clouds' of matter moving at supersonic velocities. These clouds are assumed to be produced by shock waves resulting from the development of a gravitational instability, may experience inelastic collisions with each other, and may coalesce under appropriate conditions. In this scenario, a significant amount of the energy of the primeval relative motion of the clouds is dissipated, and the corresponding initial orbital angular momentum causes the condensation formed by coalescence to rotate. Characteristic parameters of the clouds are estimated, and it is shown that the angular momentum acquired by them during collisions may be close to that of giant spiral galaxies.
