The propagation of an acoustic pulse of short wavelength is shown to be well predicted by adiabatic geometric acoustics, and this fact is used to analyze the motions in several models of bump Cepheids. On the basis of the calculated acoustic fluxes, it is concluded that the mode-resonance model is more appropriate than the pulse-resonance model for bump Cepheids.
