A large, highly structured shock complex with a Herbig-Haro type spectrum has been found in the L 1641 cloud in Orion. Optical and infrared observations suggest that the shocks are caused by a nearby variable star V571 Ori, which is found to be quite an ordinary T Tauri star. Limited CO and 13CO observations indicate that the shocks may outline a local edge of a molecular cloud. A model is proposed, where a stellar wind interacts with a cloud surface, creating oblique shocks from which material is ejected in several streamers. Optical spectra suggest that the shocks have low densities, and it is argued that the whole shock complex has a dynamical age of a few thousand years. The authors discuss the relation of the shock complex to Herbig-Haro objects, in particular HH 100, which has a somewhat similar morphology.
