In a study of three highly excited planetary nebulae (NGC 1535, NGC 2440, and NGC 2452), three distinct types of observations are presented. Monochromatic photographs centered on various lines have been taken with a CCD camera; low dispersion point-by-point spectra over the whole surface of the three nebulae have been made with an image dissector scanner; and high resolution spectra have been secured with the Coude Echelle Spectrograph. The 1.5-m Danish telescope, the 1.52-m ESO telescope, and the 1.5-m CAT at La Silla (Chile) were used. The morphologies of the nebulae are inferred and models are constructed.
