The galactic X-ray and radio binary star SS 433 ranges among the most fascinating astrophysical objects of this century, mostly because of its periodically moving spectral lines and relativistic twin-jets. Its kinematic properties are believed to be well understood, such as its distance d, orbital inclination i, beam precession angle θ, ejection speed v and the geometry of its accretion disk, whereas a number of details remain unexplained or even inconsistent. The author updates his assertion that a more satisfactory description of the system can be obtained for different kinematic properties such as d = (3±0.5) kpc, i = 67°, θ = 53°, v > 0.9999 c and no signature of an accretion disk in the light curve so far.
