The authors have observed the SiO (υ = 1 and 2, J = 2-1) masers in χ Cyg for about four optical periods. This is the only star strong enough to be monitored in the υ = 2 line. Sensitive searches for SiO (υ = 2, J = 2-1) emission towards a number of other stars and Orion-KL have resulted in only one detection, a weak maser in R Leo. A search for SiO (υ = 3, J = 2-1) masers has also been carried out.
