Scientific paper

The paper considers the principles of constructing planetocentric coordinate systems for purposes of planetary mapping and interplanetary navigation. The procedure consists of two steps: (1) the inertial planetocentric system is determined as a rectangular Cartesian system with its origin in the center of mass of the planet; and (2) the planetocentric Cartesian system, associated with the rotating planet, is determined as a rectangular system with its origin in the center of mass of the planet. Computer realization of this procedure is discussed.
