An analysis of new BV measures made at the Osservatorio Astronomico di Merate shows that HD 37819 = V 356 Aur is a double-mode pulsator with P1 = 0.189 d and P2 = 0.156 d. A new discussion of the photometric and radial velocity measures of Burki and Major (1981) strengthens this conclusion. The application of the Balona-Stobie (1978) method, and the unusual ratio between the two periods (0.826) suggest that the pulsation modes thus excited could be nonradial; other observational parameters, however, show that this hypothesis should be accepted with great caution. In any case, the ratio between the two periods and the amplitude of the light variation make V 356 Aur a unique object among the multiperiodic Delta Sct stars.
