New observations of the P Cyg area with the 100-m Effelsberg radio telescope at 4.8 GHz and with the WSRT at 1420 MHz are presented. The existence of extended emission around P Cyg is confirmed. Contrary to earlier speculation, it is of thermal origin. New information on its spatial structure could not be derived. A list of point sources in the field is also presented.
