Parallax and proper-motion results are summarized for 145 nearby K and M dwarfs, and space motions are calculated for most of the sample, which is not biased toward stars with high velocity. The space motions and their U, V, and W components are presented, the mean motion and velocity dispersion of the stars are derived, and the velocity distributions are compared with previous results. The stars are divided into groups representing the young-disk, old-disk, and halo populations, and the sizes of the groups are examined along with their kinematical properties. The weights of the space motions of the individual stars comprising each group are evaluated by means of a rigorous method based on the premise that the error in tangential velocity must necessarily be a distance-dependent parameter whereas that in radial velocity is not. The results obtained indicate an outward motion of the young stars with respect to the old ones and confirm that the kinematical local standard of rest is age-sensitive.
