The 'local' (z less than 0.1) size-luminosity function is estimated for radio sources associated with elliptical and S0 galaxies at 1415 MHz for monochromatic powers (P, in W/Hz) over the logarithmic range from approximately 22.5 to 26. The estimate is made on the basis of two radio and optically complete samples from the 3CR and B2 catalogs. The maximum apparent size of a radio galaxy is defined, its measurement is described, and the size-luminosity function is determined using Schmidt's (1968) maximum-volume method. The form of the size function is evaluated for source sizes (D, in parsecs) in three logarithmic intervals (log D less than 1.2, from 1.2 to 2.0, and greater than 2.0) as well as for log P in the ranges from 22.6 to 24.2, 24.2 to 25.0, and 25.0 to 26.2. Evidence is found for a correlation between average source size and monochromatic power over the entire power range considered, and the extent to which selection effects may cause this correlation is examined. The distributions in power of the sample sources in various morphological classes are investigated.
