The torsion field produced by a celestial body such as the sun or earth is evaluated, and the influence of this field on the free fall of a macroscopic test body is assessed. It is found to be very difficult to detect a torsion field by means of a polarized macroscopic body since all the external magnetic fields must be completely shielded. According to the theory proposed, a positive result for a polarized body in the solar or terrestrial gravitational field could demonstrate that torsion propagation is allowed and that there is a spin alignment inside a celestial body.
